an apple a day....

does not keep the doctor away...as evidence by the fact that Tony was trying to cut up an apple at work and sliced clean into his muscle...luckily we were at work, so he could get stiches!! 3 of them, but it looks really gross...well it did, it's lookin better now..
again, it has been a long time since i wrote...my apartment has been like a flop house!!!
at one time there were 6 of us in a one bedroom!apartment?!?!
anyway scott and carrie came to see us...and damn it if i can't remember everything that we did...
last saturday is when they arrived ( well friday but we were atwork) so saturday morning we went to the "life is good" pumpkin festival at the boston commons-and it rained the whole time-friggin poured...so we didn't stay there too long...then we headed to cheers-just to use the toliet :) hee hee... after a long, wet walk UPHILL ( sorry carrie) we took a cab to the quincy market to get some food...where i took a great photo of scott posed like a church statue-i'll add all the photos later since i am at work. ( triage night, not too busy)...we hung out at faneil hall and the surrounding shopping area for a bit, then headed home...i think they had fun, although scott was pissed that he missed the pumpkin bomb...some a-hole thought it would be funny to blow up a pumpkin with the crowd around, he was arrested-and it happened before we got there so we had no idea that it even occured...
that night, we went to Bad Abbots, an irish pub, so carrie could hear some moah bahstan accents, but the flippin place was vacant, only like 6 people there...so we had some drinks and went home to have some more...
sunday we headed to the cape, and holy crap it was so cooooollllldddd.(.this was before eric and maria got here with our winter coats.) we were so excited to take them there for the ocean and the shops, and we were going to buy tony's ring, but the store was closed....NUTS!!!

monday we had to work, so scott and carrie were on their own...they took a trolley tour and hung out in the city...
tuesday afternoon, eric and maria arrived, just in time to see me freak out, and for the nor'easter!!!!
carrie and i were on our way to fax in tony and my timesheets, and they blew right out of my pocket!!!WTF...although i didn't know that until i turned my purse inside out, and then raced home and destroyed our place to find them...then tony went outisde to where my car was parked before i left and found them stuck to the fence soaking wet and ripped up :(
carrie and i pasted them together and after all my tears dried we went to fax them...

we all went to salem, but it was cold and rainy and crappy out, so we didn't stay long...we headed home and to dinner, which was also crap but at least i got to see carrie get tor' up!!! let me tell you...that girl never drinks, and when she does, it is funny....
after we got home, we got ready and headed out to some bars...one that was supposed to be "punk rock and live music" turned out to be a dude at the bar with a mullet and all the patches in the world on his coat...ranging from a dixie flag to ozzy... ..nice
so we left and went to a bar right down the street from us-the sly fox...it was so small and so packed, but really fun... a lot of irish there, like off the boat irish!!! all really nice people too...we were only there for like an hour before last call and the bartender invited us to meet them at a bar in the city that stays open until 2:30...we also got some advice on a honeymoon in ireland..

then, as all things must come to an end, carrie and scott had to go-but eric and maria are still here..they had a few days on their own too, since we had to work...but we returned to salem (so i could get carrie a shirt and there were a few museums that eric and maria wanted to go to.) this time there was no rain.. it was a little cold, but there were so many people there and everything was opened late!!! not your usual 'everything closes at 5' day...
so we went to the pirate museum-please save the jokes and the arggs, we heard them all...and then we went to the biggest tourist trap ever..it was supposed to be a museum of superstitions and superstition paraphenalia...it was garbage...like a jelly baby in a jar that said " embryo from area 51" and some "real human bones"...all crap!!! the only thing of interest was a "vampire hunting kit" from the ealry 1700's it looked like it could've been authentic...it was a kit that was sold to frightened villagers.... no photos were allowed, but maria snuck one of that...(i'll post it later)
we just roamed around salem for the day and well into the night....

and now i am at work...however i had to experience a new england snow storm on the way to work...WTF!!! isn't this why tony and i decided to travel?? to avoid nasty weather??? oh well, the snow was sticking, but at last look, it seems like it is now raining...
and arizona is lookin' good!!!!
tony and i still have 4 weeks here, and we hope to do some more sightseeing before we leave...and some hiking in the mountains, as long as it stops snowing!!!

and a boyfriend who looks like Henry Roll-ins

so today we went to the berklee school of music performance center to see Henry Rollins. it was a pretty good show...spoken word, but not as good as the last time that tony and i saw him...i am pretty sure that even the people i know who were not into black flag or that genre of music would really like his spoken word- he is a man with a lot of passion, and it is not all passion for mohawks and pink hair! he spoke a lot about the ordeal in the white house and the madness with hurricane katrina...he has been to iraq and saudi arabia and a million other undesirable places to visit the troops...he has many an opinion on the ways our society works ( and not works) and many of them i agree with ( and i think that most of the people that read this-friends of mine, would totally agree.) sorry about the shameless promotion of henry rollins, but seeing him speak is like a micheal moore movie, only with more of the f-word and a lot more anger aimed at those we should be angry at...not to mention his follow-up...he uses his anger to try and change things ( other than the minds of people who see him speak.)
plus he is still hot after all these years!
tomorrow and friday we have to work, but when we get home scott and carrie will be here!! YAY!! so we will try to squeeze as much as we can in a few short days...good thing we are plannig on living here again!!!

our lazy weekend

so tony and i had to work on thursday and friday, so we decided that in the weeks to come we know that we will be entertaining and lighting up the town, we chose saturday to be our "do nothing day." IT RULES!!! i caught up on a million phone calls and read two books, and finished teaching myself to knit...mom i have 1/50 of a scarf made, so don't expect a sweater for christmas :) . Sunday we ran some errands that we really didn't need to do, like go to best buy and get cds and price some new cameras ( also look at flat screen tvs and navigation systems for the car-but that was in dream land, we cannot afford those things right now). then we went to borders and splurged...although i love the library, i wanted to get a cheesy wedding planner book...i know, i know i could use a regular notebook and everything would be ok, but i LOVE checking off things that are done, and the book i bought has all the lists in the world that i could possibly want ( plus '7 things that photographer, caterer, dress shop, etc won't tell you'- that has maybe freaked me out about planning a wedding afar). tony bought some books too, one by mel brooks son about preparing your self for the coming of zombies-written in true Michigan militia style...it's really funny...
afterwards we went to panera for dinner-we both wanted soup, but didn't feel like cooking and then we went to see corpse bride IN A THEATER THAT SCREAMED I LOVE THE 80'S...
it was like the ford-tel-old gross seats, and the ambiance of the showcase dearborn-blech- teenaged kids talking -not whispering through the whole thing, and even when the staff was alerted, the kids would only shut up for like 15 minutes at a time!!! the place was gross and we will never go back there again...but the movie was fun! how old did i just sound there.???..who cares.
today we went to cambridge and ended up exiting the subway right in front of ben's old place of employment..cheapo records...we bought a few things and headed to the garment district...it is a store that is very similar to showtimes in detroit (without the local designer's clothing lines), vintage clothes, hair dye, fishnets, shoes and halloween costumes on one floor and the other floor has clothes, shoes, bags, belts, etc for A Dollar a pound...it looked like fun, but i didn't feel like digging through piles of clothes in the floor (literally) in search of cool vintage tee's...
after we made a few purchases ( i bought the best red sweater in the universe) we were going to sit down and read some books at a coffee shop, but were starving, so we had dinner at a club/restaurant/bar place that had the looks of the eclectic cafe in windsor, but Mediterranean food-yum...
after a quick ride home on the t, we are about to sit down to watch the third harry potter movie ( the trailer for the next one was in the theater, and we decided we should see the 3 one).

OH YEAH!! i am sure that i told most of the people that read this, but just in case...
WE GOT OUR NEXT ASSIGNMENT IN TUCSON, ARIZONA!!!
we will be home for thanksgiving, and then head out to AZ right after, although we worked christmas into our contract, so we will be home for that!! YAY!!
also, scott and carrie will be here the weekend, so i look forward to showing them "our town" and the cape and salem-so some of the posts to follow may be repeat info...but who cares!!!

Who'll stop the rain

mom and dad came in on saturday, and they packed a full suitcase of rain...well maybe not, but last time mom was here it was pouring and this time too...anyway they arrived at providence, rhode island...which is the cutest little airport...looks a lot like the long beach one. theyreally did arrive WITHOUT luggage...it ended up going to seattle and maui!!! my dad asked the clerk at the airline if he could get frequent flier miles for his bag, but they said no!
anyway it is a bustling city. we went to the mall ( which is three stories and the parking is next to the mall and above it). it is very jetsons!!
we only went to the mall so we could park and go to dinner...we went to a place called fire and ice...which is just like mongolian b-b-q, but you can make sandwiches that the grillers would cook up...my mom has never been to mongolian, so it was fun to take here there... then we walked around the city a tiny bit and headed back to the apartment in hopes that the luggage would be there...but alas...it was not!!

Sunday we took them to the cape...guess where?!?!? just kidding, we went to p-town again...what can i say...it is worth the drive...it is such a fun little city! oh this time on the way there i got pulled over!! all this time i have been driving like shit and i get pulled over for ahem, driving in the left lane!!! with everyone else...i didn't get a ticket, but those smaht bastards in mass give"warning tickets" so that it is on record if you are warned so the next time you get a ticket!!!! crap...now i have to stop driving like a mass-hole!!!
the trip was fun though...we took them to the city first and then the to national seashore at night...it was wicked daahk at like 7pm...so we didn't really "see" the ocean, but we sure could hear it...well we did see it with flashlights, and the tide was crazy high!!

after that we headed home and finally tried copeland's pizza, we have been talking about checking it out since we moved here, and i think all the mental build up made it great in our heads, but not in our tummies...it was not the greatest, but we were staahving at that point, so we ate it... and later that night (2:45am to be exact) the luggage came!!! yay!!!
but we did buy my dad some fun shirts while we were at the cape-so my dad finally has some tee-shirts...i can not remember more then 25 times in my life my dad wearing t-shirts!

today i took my mom shopping for a little bit and then we picked up tony and dad (who were not shopping :) ) and raced through the subway to make it to the prudential building on time so we could make our duck tour!!
this is another thing that tony and i have been waiting to do so we don't have to do it a million times, but it was really a good time...
it is an 80 minutes trip on a WWII duk boat...it is a boat that drives on land and runs on sea like a boat, though it only goes 6 miles an hour in the river..it took us all around the sights of boston; the commons, the public garden, north end, back bay, beacon hill, the state house, newbury street, faneuil hall and quincy market and then into the charles river for a skyline tour!!
eventually we ended up "docking" at the prudential building...our tour guide by the way was hilarious...adriana would have loved him-he told a lot pirate jokes and the kind of cheesy jokes that my dad and tony tell!!! but they made us all laugh!
then we walked to the pour house for drinks and burgers. what can we say, we love that place...i was trying to "borrow" ok steal this ghost off the window, but i think that the bartender was on to me, so i aborted the mission...but it was a really cute old looking halloween decoration...

we didn't get to do all things that i wanted my dad to see, but that just means, like sarah and mark, he will have to come back when we live here again!

tomorrow we are taking them to the airport (BOOOOO) but soon after that scott and carrie will be here...

on another note...we have three interviews at hospitals in tucson-so as soon as you all are done visiting us here in chilly boston, we will be on our way to sunny arizona!!! wish us luck

people let me tell you 'bout my best friend

so i did not write all weekend beacause sarah was in town!!! yay ( and mark of course). i had so much fun while they were here. they got in thursday night, but tony and i were at work...boo
then friday was mark's b-day so we got to do his new birthday routine, which (since last year) had been to see the sox play the yankees in one of their home states...last year it was in n.y.. we didn't really see them, but we went to the bar right outside fenway and got wicked hammahed!!! and watched the game...that the sox won!
then we marched through town so they could see some of the city, esp the inside of a public toliet ( for 25 cents, those things are clean).
saturday we went to salem. i can not get enough of that place...i have been there 5 times and this month with all the other visitors i will be there are least 3 more, and i really don't mind, although we went on the 1st of october and it was busy..
at night we went to a jazz club that ben suggested to sarah...it was great, although the band took a break right as we got there and didn't start back up for at least an hour and half, so we left before they started...we was a really cozy place though. small and lots of people.
we rushed home to watch the best week ever on vh1, where Trent was making his tv debut ( other than trl). that was a fantastic way to end the night.
sunday we went to cambridge to visit harvard...we tried to get into the library but you have to have harvard id-boo!!! you can't keep books hostage like that...whatever, so we used the computer lab or something to go pee ( not like on the computers, but in the bathroom)
there was a welcome back/oktoberfest thing going on so there was all kinds of street meat and performers and people selling things on the street...
after we left cambridge, we headed to the cape...it is about t 2 hour drive from our house, but it is alway worth it!
by the time we got there it was dark, but the beach doesn;t close until midnight, so we walked along the beach and looked at the stars. after everyone had their fill of the ocean, we headed to p-town...did some shopping and went to a bar there...not the one with the drag queen that looked like the evil sea monster from the little mermaid-the one that was hitting on tony-yikes...well he is cute!!!
and alas, yesterday we had to take them to airport..i begged them to stay another day, but i guess Ford forwns upon that-just not showing up to work.
so we hung at the Logan airport and had some lunch and drinks and said farewell to our bestest pals-but on the condition that they come and see us everywhere we move to!!!
hope they had a great time to! i don't have any fun pictures of all of us, because they are all on sarah's camera, so when she sends them to me, i will send them to all of you!
