the week in review

This week was so fun that i didn't have time to write at all...my mom and mike were visiting and unfortunately so was hurricane ophelia, well more of her entourage then her. it rained so flippin hard on thursday and friday, it sucked. and since tony and i had to work those days, we figured ( before the rainstorm) that they would take the T and hang out in Boston or check out harvard, but no luck..it was too rainy to even walk to the station. but i think we made up for it on saturday and sunday...
saturday tony and i took them to salem. we walked all over town and went to a museum that we ( tony and i) had not gone to before... it was pretty interesting. more history about the witch trials and the starting of yale university...although i don't think that we took too many photos this time, so i will have to wait until my mom gets hers developed. after the long walk through salem, we stopped off to get some booze-for home because we knew that the trains stop running at 12, and a cab costs and arm and a leg to get to our house, so we couldn't stay at the bar all night....after we dropped the drinks and mixers off, we headed to the pour house ( our favorite little burger and beer place.) then we came home and had some drinks-and i was super crabby damn PMS. i hope that my mom and mike will visit us again, i was a rotten b for a few days...oopsy

anyway, sunday we went to plymouth rock...with the intention of then heading to the cape, but we ended up hangin in plymouth for awhile...everything in MA is like that Dar Williams song "the ocean"- "Let me tell you the song of this town," You said, "Everything closes at five. After that, well, you just got the bars, You don't know how precious you are, walking around with your little shoes dangling, I am the one who lives with the ocean"
it is pretty right on...we didn't get to plymouth until like two minutes before 5 ( because we were dilly dallying) anyway we went to a few shops and bought some things we didn't need, and then to plymouth rock...
which is just as sad as the bald eagle at the detroit zoo with the "tether on" (cormac's soliloquy on american freedom was once noticing that the symbol of America was trapped in a tiny exhibit in the zoo, unable to fly)
anyway the plymouth rock is behind bars...well it is in a deep well that only water and snapshots can get into...because too many people were chipping pieces off of it...still it was pretty cool to see where people first landed and decided to stay here...although tony and mike said that they stayed here because there were already automatic flushing toilets and water fountains ( they are on the dock where the mayflower II is)
the tide was pretty low so we all 'walked on water' and went looking for shells and stones and sea glass...tony and i didn't walk all the way out to water because there were millions of nautilus snails and we didn't want to kill them, then we started to flip over rocks and we found some tiny crabs and bigger soft shelled ones it was fun.

unfortunately the fun has to end today...mom and mike rented a car and are currently driving home, while i have been on the couch for hours watching old movies...i feel like pooh!!! sore throat and headache, all sorts of misery :P
oh well tony and i are off to watch movies that we actually paid to rent, while i complain about how crappy i feel and drink some tea!
