homeward bound

After this afternoon we will not have our internet service, so i thought that i would let you all know that we should be headed out the door either sunday early moring or monday. We are trying to leave on sunday, but if we can't pick up our trailer until sunday, then monday it is...
we will be headed to utah to see the arches, and if things go well, we might stop in denver to see the bodyworld exibit...weird...it is a german exibit of real, um dead people. check it out at www.bodyworlds.com . then we will be headed homeward bound.. depending on what day we leave, we should be pulling into my parent's driveway on either tuesday or wedsnesday. Unless of course we get too tired to drive 11 hours a day...but we usually don't have a problem!
we really don't want to leave flagstaff...everyone is so nice. it really did feel like home ( without our family and friends of course it is not the same) but if we had the money to move you all here, it would be home! we miss it already.

joining the ELKS club

After packing all day today, we got a phone call from a friend of ours at work -MJ. She has been trying to help us on our hunt for bull elk. We told her that we did not see any scorpions in tucson and we didn't want to leave flagstaff without seeing bull elk ( esp. since flagstaff has the highest number of elk in the lower 48 states.) The problem was that everytime she called us we were on our way to work, or getting ready for work, or sleeping...but not today!!! Packing all day and looking for a break anyway, we got in the car and headed to her mom's house to see them. Her mom boards horses and the elk graze in her field all the time... it was so amazing...they still had velvet on their racks!!! We got so close, like 30-40 feet away, we may have been able to get closer, but i didn't want to end up in the ER on my day off. i can talk about it all night, or just take a look at some of the great shots we took!!!!

busiest 6 days ever

We came home for 6 days and they could not be busier!!! we got in late on thurday and had dinner with the fam, then crashed like babies...
friday i had a haircut appointment-took about a foot off my head! and i think like 12 pounds, i can move my neck again!
we rushed around to find some dress pants that fit me ( all of mine were too big-YAY) unfortunatly it was for a funeral for Mr. Cuthbert. My favorite neighbor from Rosemont. so after i got pants, but before i went to the funeral home, tony and i met up with mark and tiff and we got to meet nathanial for the first time.. The cutest three week old peanut that i have ever seen!!! we picked out tuxedos ( very handsome, look out girls!) then i went to visit with mrs. cuthbert and pay my respects.. it was nice to see all the people that i grew up with and helped me to be the girl i am today..
after that tony and i had a date with jay and cathy to watch the piston's lose!!! BOOOO.. right after that we met with sarah, mark and jeff at the beirgarten!! i have not been there in forever it was nice...
saturday started another crazy busy day.... we got up and headed to our ceremony site to check it out and pay for it...then we headed out to scott's to pick him up for dinner... we drove to tara's and had some wine before dinner at antonios with my girls! nicole and micheal-0who were celebrating their engagement) liz and dan, tara, myslef, scott and tony...afterwards we headed to silky's for some drinks..but not too many. tony and i had to be up in the morning for the baptism of the cutest kid in the univesrse!!!

sunday started at like 7 am ( 4 am arizona time) we got all cuted up and headed to church, where we got to see tony's parents. After the ceremony we went to mark's parent's new place ( very nice) for lunch and chatting...
not like we weren't pooped already! but then we went back to my mom and dad's house and had a belated b-day party for tony...more drinks, less sleep... but i got to hang out with the kids ( jeff, nick, mike, scott, eric, jay, cath, sarah, mark, other mark, tiff)

monday we went to the reception hall to put some money down and take some more photos. i forgot how amazing it was!!! YAY!!

we ran some more errands, then had dinner with scott followed by a fire! i can not wait to move home, not just because i won't be so busy, but i really miss my best friends!!

standin' on a corner in winslow arizona...

well once again, this is a very late post! but what can i say i really wanted to get home to visit, so i wasn't thinking about posting....
tony and i only having a few weeks left in arizona decided to try to hit a lot of sites in a little time...
driving through the lower elevation in the desert looked like we were drivin right off the earth.

first stop was going to be winslow, arizona. but we ended up stopping at meteor crater first. it is the only intact area where a meteor touched down. The place is used to study i don't konw what by NASA. The area of the crater is bigger than 20 football fields, hard to image with just a photo, but give it a try. We took some photos, ate a sandwhich and headed to our next destination.

winslow arizona...and when the eagles sang "winslow, arizona, such a fine site to see"
they were talking about the girl, not the city. it is as big as harrisville, MI and resembles a mix of taylor and the city that the three amigos had to save! Although there is an old flat bed ford on the corner along with a mural of a girl in a flat bed ford. it was cute.
We just stopped for a photo on the corner and some route 66 memorabilia ( and to use the bathroom.)

While we were driving to the petrified forest ( our third and final stop) we saw an antelope!!! A real antelope, the picture is bit fuzzy -those suckers are fast as hell) so we sang a round of " oh give me a home where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play." then i freaked out about hitting one ( i didn't ) but it blended in so well...

anyway we made it to the forest 15 minutes before it was closing, but since it is a national park, they can't forbid you drive the road that goes through it, but the fella' at the gate was like " just don't get outta your car after 7." i felt like i was in a bad horror movie...like all bad things happen after 7

we drove through most of the forest, it was soo cool- obviously there were standing trees but all over were falled trees that were totally petrified-huge pieces of them.
we drove a bit more to some Native American ruiins and i had to go to the bathroom really bad, so we stopped and got out. There were bathrooms near the area, and there were also petroglyphs!!! So cool. these pictures were carved into rocks some time before the 1200's...
it was amazing, not to mention all the energy there. It is in the middle of the desert so it was hot as hadies, but then you would walk into a freezing "i-need-a-sweater-" area. it was awesome. We drove with the moonroof open on the way back through the forest and felt the air going over out head, super hot and then freezing! SO COOL. it was a good way to get our kicks on route 66 before we head back home
