So I realized that it has been a long time since i wrote on here, and as soon as i opened the page, i remembered why...i had a post all ready to go with the pictures from mine and tony's last hike ( before this one) and i could not get it to publish...
oh well,
so this week, we had the whole week of Easter off, and we slept it away. We were supposed to have a visitor during the weekend, and then go to dinner with some friends for easter, but we didn't, we spend the whole weekend sleeping...
it was probably a good idea to save our energy though, because weds. sherie came into town and we didn't stop going until the day we had to work...
she got in on weds. afternoon, we took a quick time-out for the bathroom and then headed to the Grand Canyon...it was sooo much busier there than the first time when we went in Jan. But fun though, because she had never been there. We got a great photo near one of the really tourist-y ( well the whole south rim is tourist-y) spots....

We got home in the late evening, and had dinner and the beaver street brewery, left there with the plans to go home and get some drinks, but all we got was pillow time. we all fell asleep within an hour.
That worked out ok too, because thursday was a very busy day for us...we went to the Galaxy diner for brunch... it is this cool little place on route 66, in the style of an old 50's diner. The best part was the ketchup bottle with a mouth on it...well not a real mouth, but the sticker looked like one...

After brunch we went to the lava tubes, 700,000 remains from a volcano...it is only 3/4 of a mile from end to end, but it took us more than an hour and a half to get half-way through...when we got there, we decided that was enough for the day, because we had other plans to hike in sedona.....

the tubes were so cool, i can not wait until adriana gets here so we can finish what we started- we want to see the end of the tubes ( although some friends of ours say it smells like whiz towards the end) . For the most part we were alone in the cave, at first there was a field trip going on...literally, a million kids, but then after they left it was just me, tony, and sherie...it was really interesting, there were areas where you could giant pieces of shale that had fallen from the ceiling, who only knows how long ago....

after we got our fill we headed to sedona...where we found a million more places that we can't wait to hike. The first was oak creek. we were walking along the road and realized that you can hike right next to the water-but the park to get in to that area was closed for the day, so we headed toward our initial hiking destination...
we were going to go to solider's pass, it is a place where the seven sacred pools meet, a place where native americans considered sacred because, here in the middle of desert, they always hold and retain water.
we couldn't make it there either, because it is encircled by a neighborhood that doesn't like people in and out ( even though it is in a state/national forest) they own the area surrounding and the parking lots gates close at 6pm, no questions...
so foiled again, we headed to the devil's bridge. i am sooo glad that we made it here, it was amazing. There were some really scary spots ( esp, if you are afraid of heights, like i am) but i did it anyway...after hiking that until the sun went down we went out for some amazing mexican food and headed home, one drink later we were all out!

Tony and i woke up the next morning and sherie had split, she said she might because we had to work, so we were trying to sleep in so we could stay up for work...and now i am on a 6 night work strech, done with three nights, and three more to go, so this weekend i will try to post more, because adriana and brian are coming and we are going to finish the lava tubes, and hopefully get to the 7 sacred pools!
