Howdy Pardner

HORAY!! my mom and dad got here on friday and tony and i had the whole weekend off!!! i picked them up from the airport and then we went to lunch. After that, we headed to Old Tucson...It is near our apartment, and old area that movies were filmed...and little house on the prarie!!! there were a lot of westerns filmed there, and THE THREE AMIGOS!!! one of my favorites movies....it was so much fun!!! we were going to go out to dinner afterwards, but everyone was pooped...mom and dad had a long day, plus with the time change...and tony and i woke up too early...so we made dinner and had some drinks!

saturday we got up early again-boo!! but we got a good start...we went to Tombstone...where the shot out at the O.K Corral took place, the town still looks like it is in the 1800's...and then we toured the birdcage theater...this is the oldest place in the town ( we really want to see some ghosts in our photos, none so far, we have to check mom and dad's) anyway this is where the cowboys would gamble, hang out with the ladies of the night and drink like crazy!! there are still bullet holes in the wall and the photos, pretty much everywhere...where all the gun fights took place!
i am not into the "old west" but it was soo cool!!!
on the way home we had to stop at a checkpoint- the US Border patrol making sure that no illegal immigrants get through AND WE WERE LIKE 30 MILES FROM THE BORDER!!!
so then we went to dinner ( thanks dad :) ) pizza and some beers....we got home and fell asleep watching some movies!!!

today ( sunday) we were going to go to the botanical gardens and the butterfly garden, but we were tired and planning wedding stuff, so instead we had a nice dinner and home and then went out for ice cream!!!
tony and i have to work tomorrow and tuesday...but then wednesday Barb comes in!!! can't wait!!!
more to come!!!

here come the visitors

So, this week we had our first visitor! Don came over on friday and spent the weekend and the beginning of the week with us...man were we lazy!!! the first day we went hiking in the saguaro national park, and it all went couch potato from there...saturday we wanted to do something exciting, but instead we had mimosas for breakfast and hung out all day at our place...later on in the day, don and i went to kinkos and re-made all of the save-the-date magnets ( since i bought the wrong size magnets). then we had some drinks and put them together!! ( they still look great-even with the drinking). Sunday Dave and Shlley came over, but they got to our place the minute after we left for work! nuts
Monday was another work day for us, but don had his firefighter exam for tucson...tony and i are sure that he did fine...but still fingers crossed.
So tuesday we had plans to go to the caverns and hike again, but the lure of the couch took over and we stayed there ALL DAY!!! Until we had to get some dinner and take don to the airport...afterwards i went to the gym to work off all the drinks ( total of 8 pounds lost so far-yay me!)
He headed to Vegas to take another exam, of which i am sure that he did fine, but we will know at the end of the month!
and finally in one day-my mom and dad will be here!! yay!! hopefully the couch doesn't suck us in and we can do all the things that tony and i have planned ( old tucson, mt.kitt observatory, tombstone and maybe the caverns!) not to mention as soon as barb gets in we are going to try on the wedding dress that i think i love!!!
i'll keep you all posted!

Officially Official

Having two days off tony and i decided to trek out to the grand Canyon for the weekend...We left kinda' late on Saturday and took our time getting there. It is about a 5 hour drive...We stopped in Flagstaff to have a look around, since there is a pretty good chance that is where we will head to next. It seems like a cute little city, with a college, so there is still stuff to do nearby.
We got the the entrance of the park at like 9:30 and the only hotel room available was a handicap suite...but it was wicked cheap so we took it!! When we got in the room, i thought that we made a wrong turn and ended up in Vegas...the chairs were upolstered in poker print and above the bed was a hand of cards all in hearts....yikes...the other photos on the wall were one of doc holiday looking really mean and a bunch of men on horses being shot at...nice atmosphere...here are some photos of the room...

The next day we got up early and headed out to the grand canyon, which is only a mile away from the place we stayed the night before...as soon as we entered the park there was a buck just sitting on the side of the road eating...it didn't move for anything...a million people were out of their cars taking photos...we were like 10 feet away and it was just starring into the sky eating grass....what a great way to start the day...

so we parked the car and started to hike along the rim of the canyon ( we were going to hike inside of it, but it was freezing out there and it is suggested that hikers take more than one day if they plan on making it to the bottom and the top-we have to work tomorrow so that was out).
As we started walking away from the crowd of people, Tony stopped and said that he had something in his shoe, so i turned around to meet him-there he was on one knee and pulled out from his shoe??, i don't even know where he was hiding it...the ring, he asked me to marry him, officially!!!! and of course, officially i said YES!!! but since we were at 8000 feet elevation we couldn't call anyone to tell them until later on and the calls were very crackly and annoying...so if you didn't get a call, or got one WAY later on in the day-sorry that is why...
and then as we were leaving the park, we saw ANOTHER deer eating at the side of the road-i put some photos of both of them above!!!
here are some photos of our trip ( and the ring) as soon as we download them onto imagestation we will post the link!!! enjoy!!!

The Drive-IN

So tony and i have been trying to see walk the line since it came out, unfortunately we were moving out of boston and headed home the week that it came out, then came the move to arizona and we just haven't found the time to see it....until the other night that is.. and i am so glad that i waited!
we thought that we weren't going to see it until it came out on dvd, but i was looking at the movie guide and found it playing AT THE DRIVE-IN!!! it was so fun, almost like when i was a kid, but a little different ( tony and i did not lie on top the car :) )
it was so amazing, the snack bar still smelled like the early 80's- they were serving all the concession stand hits including nachos and hamburgers, but we stuck to the popcorn-just like the old days we brought our own snacks!! the bathrooms were scary, but you could tell that in their time, many a girl told her friends all her secrets ( like Rizo from Grease :) )
there was almost no one there-but i guess the folks in arizona considered it cold outside, it was like 54 degrees-and the best part was that it was $5 a person and there were two movies!!! although we missed the first one- Grandma's boy...we will for sure be going back to see King Kong...how could you not see that at the drive in...
anyone coming to visit soon, that may be on the list, if you're up for it :)

OH yeah, and i have added a few more visitors to the list YAY!!! don is coming out here next friday, he has an exam with the Tucson fire department, so he is coming early to hang out with us....then comes mom and dad, and shortly after barbie!!!! and when they are all here, we are going to try on a wedding dress...i found one that i love!!!
a week or so after that adriana is going to grace me with her presence for a roller derby competition that is being held in Tucson!!! HORARY FOR VISITORS!!!!
see you all soon!

OH MY GOSH...

How the heck could i forget the most important thing that happened this week!!! thanks to my mom and sarah ( and carrie at heart-hope you feel better) we found a place to get married!! and it is lovely!!! it is EXACTLY what i imagined in my head as the place i wanted to get married at!!! the nature center, the little bridge, even the seating for the guest!!!!
plus i talked to the florist, and i like her, and my friend that said she would make our cake called us and said that she still plans on it!!!!
the save-the-dates are lookin' good, i just need to get the copy from sarah and we are on our way!!!
Thanks everyone!!!

Steppin' Out- Sorta

So last week tony and i were off for four days...we had big plans.. we were going to explore the caves and then drive up to the grand canyon... instead we laid on the couch coughing and feverish feeling miserable!!!! i was so pissed...this was our first chance to go out and see the sites. Oh well, we did get to the desert museum, which was not so much a museum as it was a walk in the desert with wild animals everywhere!!! it was amazing. I think it was a one mile walk in the desert ( near saguaro national park-so the drive was amazing, nothing but mountains and cacti for miles) with a few "zoo-like" exibits. The animals in a large enough area to run, but definatly had the zoo feeling, the enclosed snakes and spiders and scorpion behind glass. The rest of the place though, was outstanding. So you walk through the desert and the plants are labled for you with information about what you are looking at, and there are wire fences all around, barely noticable until you see a javelina or a coyote, then you notice that they are fenced in, or we are fenced out. One or the other.. It was soo cool....
the drive up the mountain to get there was a little intimidating though. No guard rails, nothign between your car and the edge of the mountain except for road...RATSSS!! i was trying to load some photos, but it won't let me...dammit...i will try to post some later on!
on another note...MY MOM AND DAD ARE COMING TO VISIT!! our first guests, and then the next week BARB is coming!! YAY!!! i am glad that we got sick when we did, so it wouldn't ruin our fun!!! can't wait to see you guys and dolls!!!
hopefully i can get the photos up soon, or at least post the link so you can see them!
