SHARK BAIT!! WHO HAA HAA

Yesterday we went to the New England Aquarium!!! So fun. they have a 200,000 gallon tank there in the middle of the aquarium with all types of salt water fish/sharks/turtles. you can go to the 'top of the tank' and peer in at the marine life. We watched as two divers went in to feed, it was so amazing...the turtles in the tank were as big as people, for real like 5 feet long and 4 feet across...this is the best picture that we could get through the glass...

Then we found the "sea shore" exhibit where you can touch and pick up sea urchins and star fish!!! i was scared to, but i did anyway-mom aren't you so proud of me!!!
ohh, speaking of scared!!! i saw a mouse on our patio-GROSS!!! I hope the next place that we move to is on the 2nd floor...sucks for unpacking, but better for critters to not get in!!
After the aquarium, we went walking, as we have become found of doing ( walking till you end up on an adventure) and we stumbles upon the North End of the city, known as "little Italy".

Fun, there we saw Paul revere's house, and the best part....
we found a restaurant that served two dinners and a bottle of wine for $19.99...so we ate, and we drank, and drank, and drank...and got tipsy off a bottle of merlot. Then we went walking around some more!!! I bought Sarah's birthday present, tried some clothes on ( which i don't recommend doing after drinking, buttons are really hard to figure out at that point). and then we headed home!!!

Today we were off, but we just ran some errands and cleaned! We finally bought a flat screen LCD monitor for the computer, so we should have a little more room in the car when we move again-hopefully We have a long work week ahead of us, then we are coming home!!!

To market, to market

Toady we ventured out to fanueil hall, quincy market, and the haymarket...it used to be a place like eastern market where people would sell groceries and random items...now it is a marketplace of all kids of things... a lot of kiosks and stores line the market...on the way there, though there was these nasty kids on the T, maybe about 15 years old and two of them had kids. no biggie right?!?! except that they were behaving like 12 year olds!!!! i was embarrassed for their children...they were running around so much that the conductor actually came back to our train and told them to "cool it". sadness...anyway quincy market offers unimaginable choices of food and snacks...tony ate some clam chowda

and some huge meat sandwich...i opted for spinach pie ( and suddenly was missing Greektown). afterwards we walked out to the square and saw some kids performing there...well not all kids, like 7 guys from ages 15-30 and a little kid who was no more than 18 months dancing their arses off!!! we took some video, but i don't know how to post a video, so we will email it separately! we walked a million more miles and went back to chinatown for dinner! we walked through the theater district to get to chinatown. i got really excited seeing that Wicked was going to be playing in Boston, but when we got up close, it is not coming until March...waaa waahhhh! we will not be here then...oh well...tomorrow we have to work, so we are going to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie ( that my brother sent me-thanks e-rock!)
oh i forgot...yesterday while we were walking we found this asian mart, like the one in LA's chinatown, only it was in our city, not chinatown...anyway we bought some snacks there that we think the folks at Detroit Receiving would like (see photo below)

Guess who's coming for dinner

HOLY CRAP!!! i love mail, good old fashioned from the post, er person mail!! and today i hit the jackpot...i got a fantastic package from my family and from adriana!!! my mom sent me all the things i forgot, or forgot that i forgot!! like my on the stove popcorn popper!!! and my favorite salsa that i can't find out here, er, well i can but i forgot what store i got it from ( dunce). anyway and adriana sent me these shoes that i wanted really bad the first time i went to visit her, but the store only had them in black and i wanted the red ones! who cares though, black? red? they are awesome and i will paint them red!!!
better news....people are finally REALLY making solid plans to visit us!!! of course, sarah and mark-the first ones to confirm a date!!!! and today my mom told me that she and (hopefully) mike are going to drive back with tony and i when we come home for jay's wedding and will stay with us for a week!!!! yay!!! plus scott and carrie will make plans as soon as i talk to my nurse manager about getting the weekend off that they want to come...AND HORAY!!! my dad can make it after all...he thought that he couldn't get days off since it is getting really busy at work, but he can!!! not that i don't think that everyone would love it here, but my dad and his history, man he is going to shit himself!!!
that's all for now
see you soon!!! Some of you anyway!!!

book whores

Last night tony and i decided to take it easy...we planned on going to Cambridge and hang out near the Charles river and see Harvard, but it was not really too nice out ( plus tony said that there wouldn't be much people watching since the kids weren't back to school yet). Instead we hopped on our bikes and rode into our city ( to and from a total of 7 miles). we returned some videos and went the library AGAIN!! i'll admit it, i am a book whore...since i am, for the first time in awhile ONLY working, not going to school or working more than one job, i can't read enough! so all sunday we just made dinner and read books. well i went to the gym for an hour, but after that you couldn't peel me away...toady we are not doing anything exciting, exept going to work! nuts...hopefully the next post will be more exciting!

Up and away in my beautiful balloon

today tony and i went to the Boston commons. right before going in though, we stopped at granary cemetery where Paul revere, john Hancock, and Mary ( mother) goose are burred...there is so much history here! i love it!
at the commons though, i was deceived by the "frog pond" i thought the name explained it, but it is a wading pool. nuts...cute though but no frogs...there is a hot air balloon in the park that you can ride but the line was crazy long and i had to go to the bathroom so we took photos instead...it really isn't a "hot air" balloon though, there was a generator making the hot air and not a fire...and it was attached to a cable so you go up, see the city and come down again. looked fun nevertheless..
then we meandered into the public gardens. they have paddle boats there that someone else paddles for you. the person that paddles the boat sits in a giant swan. there are plenty of photos on the kodak gallery (i'll email that to all of you). we stumbled upon a couple that just got married getting pictures taken there, so i took some pictures of them too :) they were cute...
after the mosquitos started to take over we walked to a bar called "the pour house." very nice atmosphere with music from the early 90's and late 80's...nice...had some beers and "burgers" tony had a real burger called the texas...three 1/4lb patties, bacon and cheese...we'll be taking him for an artery flush tomorrow...we had to walk off the fries and beers so we walked to fenway park. there was not game going on but we saw equipment that belonged to the rolling stones!!! they are playing there tomorrow...we couldn't figure out why there were all sorts of people around and no game ( other than the folks at the bars around there) then we saw all sorts of stuff with "rolling stones" on it! how cool is that!!!
that was it for today! tomorrow we are going to try to hang in Cambridge ( go to hahvahd and f' up some smaht kids) like in good will hunting! we plan on hangin by the Charles river, maybe canoe if it's nice out.we'll see....more to come soon!

and i know you'll be calling me soon, and if i don't answer i'm calling the moon

Well, today tony and i went salem...we didn't go to all the museums because i know that a lot of people that plan on visiting us want to go, and we thought that we would get bored with it...so we only went to the witch dungeon today... i had been there before in the past ( this life :) ) but i wanted him to see it...it is still very chilling and sad...it starts with a little play that shows how the Puritan judges believed every word that the girls accusing the witches said. then you take a tour into a model of what the actual dungeon looked like...they unearthed the actual spot in the 1950's but there was no historical society to preserve it, so all that is left is one beam of the building and it is displayed in the model dungeon. the real site where the women and men were kept prisoners is now buried deep under the ameritech building...i really wouldn't want to work there...anyway we didn't take photos of the place ( sorry) because it is really dark in there, and last time i tried to take photos they didn't turn out too well.
we walked all over the town and amazingly enough did not buy tons of stuff...mostly i was just deciding on what i'll buy when we bring people there...
we were going to check out the house of the seven gables...the house where the turner's lived ( very rich sea captain and his family it was built in 1668) also the whole basis of the book the house of the seven gables...but it costs $11 bucks to get into the grounds, and we figured that we would be back so we wanted to save some surprises for next time... we walked through the wharf and saw the custom house where the taxes were paid on goofs brought over from other countries...by the time we got that far though, everything on that side of town was closed...the town rolls up its sidewalks around 6pm, except in october i guess...
oh yeah..i forgot before we went to the museum, we walked through the cemetery in salem where the judge hathorne (judge who sentenced all the accused to death) and the doctor who reported that the girls making the accusations were not sick, only frightened by the devil...it was really interesting to see stone markers from the early part of the 1600's...on the way home we saw the most amazing almost full moon...the picture above is the best shot we could get...
one we got home, we walked to the T station and went to chinatown for some delicious vietnamese pho! yum...word to the wise...do not eat this noodle soup when wearing black...some of the pictures that tony took are of my shirt where the noodles fell from my chopsticks and the starchy broth made little white marks all over the front of my shirt...
we'll send you all the invite to kodak galleries to see the photos that we took in salem, oh yeah and our place...that email will be coming soon!

book nerds!

So today tony and i ventured out to the thomas crane public library and got ourselves library cards...well i did, we forgot the "piece of mail sent to your Quincy address" for tony, so he'll get one later.
anyway the library is amazing....one wing of it was built in 1882...it was breathtaking!!! this is just one of the rooms in it...everyone there was so nice too...for some reason, everyone here thinks that michigan is freezing!!! every single person that we talk to says "you;re from michigan, it's soooo cold there." and we correct them and tell them that it is exactly the same as it is here!! oh well..then we went to uno's for pizza...since we were going to go to chicago first, we thought we could pretend we were there, but everyone had new england accents!
then i sat on the couch and read a book that had NOTHING to do with nursing or massage therapy..it was great...
driving through our little town, i still can't believe that we did it...that we moved...i love it so far...and although i know that i want to live near my family, it is beautiful here-anyone that comes to visit is surely going to want to stay for much longer!

anyway off to watch the rain and eat some dinner :)

we are FINALLY in our apartment in quincy, ma!!! tony and i work all the same days together so we can go on a million mini trips when we are here...
people at the hospital have recommended a lot of things to do...so this week are going to go to salem and maybe plymouth rock!!! YAY
we found a cemetary in our city that has John adams, John Quincy adams, and a lot of really old, dead people!!! from the 1600's and up!! cool, umm i mean wicked awesome!!!
